Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had a super day. I say it every week, it’s Friday and Friday is my favourite day of the week. My Friday has been dark, dreary and very foggy!!! Come on spring, where are you???

So, what have I been up to today? Well apart from walking my Maisie dog first thing this morning, I haven’t set foot outside the door. So, I mooched about doing a bit of this and that at my favourite slow and measured pace. I got a few loads of laundry done. I messed around in my sewing room for a bit and waited for my alarm man to perform an annual service on my house alarm.

This afternoon I decided to start prepping the penultimate block of my Moving Forward quilt project. I’m going to miss having this project to plan and work on when it’s all done. In the meantime, I still have to plan the borders. I have absolutely no idea what to do with the borders at this point. Once all the centre blocks have been joined together I might have a better idea whether I need a busy border or just a simple plain border. Here’s a little peek at what I prepped this afternoon …..

Once I traced my three hearts onto Freezer Paper I cut and ironed on the shapes to my chosen fabric …..

And once I cut the fabric shapes out leaving a ¼” margin I was ready to turn and sew the margins onto the Freezer Paper in readiness for tacking onto the background fabric …..

I have one more 6” block to piece. I’ve run out of ideas for blocks for this project. All it needs is a simple block. I’m sure I’ll come up with a simple subject for my last block this weekend. Inspiration is all around me.

To end this last post of the week I need your help. I was asked for help in making a lap quilt for someone who is an electric wheelchair user. I have no idea where to start in terms of size and shape for practicality. So, if anyone has any ideas or knowledge please feel free to post a comment. I think this is quite important so please don’t hesitate to help. This is something I have no experience in.

So, it’s been another pretty good week in my little world. I hope you all have a super cosy/weekend evening doing something you truly enjoy doing. Until next time,

Let’s all keep on stitching.

Lucie x

  1. Thanks for the help, Lucie. I was thinking that a cloth strap with velcro, under the knees and or around the waist, to keep it from falling down or off? Hard to enjoy your ride out with this moving around all the time. Don’t know…but, thanks for the shout out for me. Very kind of you and anyone who may be able to help. What about a rabbit? I like a hare, more than a rabbit, actually, or a hedgehog? Nature of the sky is there, what about the earth? I don’t know, tired of life today, so have a great weekend everyone, and take care.

    1. Hi Joanna, So far no responses from anyone with any ideas on how to make/adapt a lap quilt for use with an electric wheelchair. I’m out today with some like-minded ladies. I will ask them if they have any ideas or experience with such. We’ll come up with something. As for the last block, don’t worry I’ll figure that out.
We all get tired of life Joanna. It’s been a long long winter. You probably need a change of pace and sometimes it’s hard to see past that. Brew yourself a pot of tea, select a good book or magazine, put your feet up and have a little break for a bit. Have a lovely weekend whatever you’re doing x

Hi Lucie, I have just finished knitting a lap blanket which might do for someone in a wheelchair, so you would be very welcome to have it (as long as it’s for a woman as it has a pink border!)
Have a good weekend, Anne xx

  3. I’ve just done a quick catchup of your posts & love your approach to life & have found your journey very inspiring. I’ve realised along my journey, what makes me who I am, but it took a long time to find out. I’ve no idea how to help with your request as I don’t know anyone in a wheelchair, but no doubt someone will tell you to “google” it, which can be annoying at times, so hope you can get some help. I’m looking forward to seeing how the two applique quilts move on. Have a good weekend & take care.

    1. Hi Susan, life is a mystery to me. I’m still trying to figure out how I got here! As for knowing who I am, well I’m still trying to figure that one out!!! Have a lovely weekend Susan. And thanks for popping in today x
