Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had a fab day. Although I didn’t really have a plan of action for today, it’s been a pretty good one anyway. Perhaps going off piste now and again is a good thing.

I was up and at it even before the sun decided to make an appearance. I got thru the morning doggy routine and disappeared into my sewing room. My first task was to load my latest Dresden Plate quilt top into my longarm …..

I have decided to give this quilt a simple custom quilting job. Here’s a little diagram of what I’m aiming for in places …..

There are quite a lot of negative spaces in this quilt so I’m trying to give it a little texture by alternating light quilting and denser quilting as shown in my chicken scratch diagram. It’s a while since I did any custom quilting. It’s definitely not my favourite way to quilt but I think this quilt top will look better for it.

Yesterday we were aiming for a quiet afternoon. Well we got exactly what we were aiming for. I took a few minutes out of my afternoon to bake some oatmeal muffins …..

For me, oatmeal muffins are comfort food. They’re easy to make and you can add anything you like to them. I like to add chopped dates and walnuts or pecans when I can afford them. They’re delicious when they’re still warm.

We stepped out this morning to purchase some embroidery thread for Sarah. She’s currently working on her major final assignment for uni and needed embroidery thread in specific colours which we didn’t have in our stash. I can’t wait to see what she produces with said thread. While we were out I found a couple of packs of Easter themed bits to decorate my driftwood tree.

It’s meant to be a Christmas tree but it’s so lovely that I decided to turn it into a seasonal tree.  So, watch this space. I’ll be looking for springtime decorations after Easter.

So far today, I haven’t even threaded a needle let alone do any sewing. The last piece to the puzzle required to turn me into an independent woman arrived today. I hope to be able to concentrate enough to work on some hexies this evening. In the meantime, it’s time to layer up a lasagne for our supper. I seem to have done quite a lot of home cooking this week. It’ s the perfect time of year for good home cooked comfort food. Umm Umm

So, I guess that’s my report for today. I hope to bring you some longarm quilting progress tomorrow. In the meantime, I wish you all a super cosy evening doing something that brings you comfort. Until next time,

Let’s all keep on stitching

I’m looking forward to seeing ypur custom quilting! Those muffins look good. Malcolm was delighted that you featured his driftwood tree!

    1. Hi Anne, I love the driftwood tree Malcolm madesign for me. So turning it into a seasonal tree permits me to leave it out all year. I think I’ll make some fun bunting to hang in it for summer. Thanks for popping in x

  2. Oh, Anne has just answered my question about the driftwood tree. Now I’m looking forward to seeing both the tree decorated & laq progress. Home baking is something I’ve always enjoyed, but not so much in this awkwardly designed kitchen or hot weather. Bring on autumn! Very oppressive this morning already at 7am. Have a good day & take care.
