Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had a fabulous day. It seems for the longest time I felt like I had lost my mojo. I’m sure lots of other quilt makers and crafters feel the same this time of year. I’m not sure if it’s the short days or whether it’s the let-down after Christmas that sends us crashing into the abyss. I do feel like I’m on the mend because I keep scratching around looking for UFOs projects to finish. I’m choosing projects that the most prep done which will put me in good stead to finish or make good progress more quickly. I feel the need to have a good sense of accomplishment at the end of the day.
So, what have I been doing today I hear you say. I sat down and pulled any paper shapes left in my Patchwork of the Crosses quilt top …..
And then I cut and joined the plain border which I’m adding to the POTC just to frame it up. Once that was done, I sat and pinned and tacked the hexagon centre to the plain border …..
If you look really hard you can see the tiniest dot of blood. This project has been a true labour of love. Not only that, I put blood, sweat and tears into it.
I’m pleased to tell you that I had a good play with my Moving Forward block last evening …..
Not only did I finish securing the patches to the background but I worked on another which is almost finish …..
Moving Forward!!! Yes, I am. And today I prepped another block …..
While I was busy in my sewing room, my supervisor was doing exactly what she does best. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz
My Sarah went to York for the weekend. York is one of my favourite places but I stayed home with Maisie and had a girly weekend with her. Sarah hit the shops while she was there. I love quirky stuff, so when Sarah saw this she knew I would love it. Round and round we go …..
This lovely rotating candle is mesmerising. You light the candle and the heat makes the carousel go around and round. I’m such a lucky happy stitcher.
So, that’s my report for today. I’m so pleased my mojo is finally coming back. I seemed to be going thru the motions everyday for such a long time. Now I am actually enjoying what I’m doing and I look forward to stepping into my sewing room and being creative. I hope you all have a super cosy and creative evening. Until next time,

So, now I know what you do with the insides of a piece work! Stupid me, ha ha ha. Maisie is amazing…such a good girl for you. Not too bossy, that is what I like in a supervisor. This quilt will be beautiful, when finished. I also like the second panel you made, it is busy with small little marks, the third is charming..what is the diagram for this piece? How large will it be? What do you do with all your work, do you exhibit or sell?
On another note, maybe your Mum said but, the SNOW….-17 and the SNOW…sigh.
Basile my pure white cat sits in the window and it is hard to tell where he is ha ha.
You are more than likely sleeping, so hope tomorrow is another productive day.

Hi Joanna, Stick with me and perhaps you’ll learn a little more about patchwork and quilt making. I try to share as much info about how things are made because I would definitely like to inspire newbies to join in too. I feel that the interest in the quiet art of quilt making is fading. So it’s up to old timers like me to inspire and draw young ones to this fabulous pastime.
You asked what I do with my creations. Well, some of them get given and presents to people who appreciate them. I have in the past held giveaways of tester samples and such. But for the most part I keep them and some I even use. My quilts bring me comfort and warmth when I need it the most. Someday I might even be brave enough to exhibit in shows here in the UK. I’m not really all that keen on letting others scrutinize my work up close.

All I can say about your POTC is a huge WOW. Nearly there & that is just so much work. I’m loving those new flower blocks & can’t wait to see how that one turns out. How sweet is Maisie & I saw one of those candles somewhere else, but for the life of me, can’t think where! Not much mojo coming back here, as it is still so hot & it’s knocking me around this year. Hi Susan, I am currently hand sewing the border on. It took what seems ages to tack it all together and now it’s taking ages to do the fine hand sewing. It’s worth every all the time and effort that went into it. It may not be every bodies cup of tea but since I chose this particular design and all the colours and prints that went into it, I’m sure I will treasure it.
Maisie is very sweet. She’s my shadow and loves hanging out in my sewing room on my/her wicker chair. Notice I put a quilt over the chair, that’s because there are built in holes in the chair that she might roles out of. I learned that lesson when she was a puppy!!! Haha
I hope you hot weather breaks soon. I don’t work to good in the heat either.

Maisie is just too cute and what a super blanket she has! Love the candle – I have a similar one for Christmas which chimes little bells as it spins. Look forward to watching your stitching progress as it might inspire me to keep going!

Oooooh I love my rotation candle. Little things fascinate me!!! My mother had one similar but instead of running on a tea light like mine it ran on mini tapered candles. So so pretty. Thanks for popping in x

That is how mine works – with the tapered candles. I think it was a German Christmas design.

Hi Mirjam, I’m quite sure you will become addicted to piecing the POTC. It a project that you can bring anywhere because you don’t need a whole lot of equipment to work on. It’s quite amazing how one single block can be transformed with the different colourway/print changes. It’s so satisfying when it’s finished. I will be adding the label to mine today and hopefully with a little help from my friends, I will be able to get a bigger photo of it. Thanks for popping in today x
